Squeeze In’s “Best Omelettes on the Planet” Challenged to “Throwdown” with Bobby Flay Food Network Surprises Reno, Nev., and Truckee, Calif., Restaurants 02.22.2010 – Best omelettes on the planet? We think so. Tasty enough for a “Throwdown” with world-renowned chef Bobby Flay? Definitely. 107 quadrillion omelette possibilities didn’t scare away Food Network’s “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” held at the Squeeze In with a historic location in downtown Truckee, Calif. and it’s newest location in Reno, Nev. Flay dropped in on Squeeze In owners Gary and Misty Young and Shila and Chad Morris with a surprise all-American omelette “Throwdown,” the first of its kind in the region. Set to air on Food Network March 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” featuring the Squeeze In highlights just why so many people travel hundreds of miles (and cross state lines!) for one of the Youngs’ omelettes. Misty took Flay’s challenge whipping up the Squeeze In’s 300,000th #37 Racy Tracy, the most popular omelette on the Squeeze In menu, packed with avocados and mushrooms sautéed in a white wine sauce and folded in with crisp bacon and Monterey Jack cheese. Flay’s creation is top secret until the program airs, but the Squeeze In has created a tribute omelette dubbed the “Spanish Flay” that debuts on the menu March 4. About Throwdown with Bobby Flay Squeeze In serves the “Best Omelettes On The Planet” as well as a wide variety of unique sandwiches, tasty burgers, huge fresh salads, homemade soups and jumbo burritos. CONTACT: Misty Young, c: (530) 305-3599 Squeezing Some Hope For HaitiTruckee, CA – Ten percent of all dining profits from both locations of the Squeeze In over the next week will go toward disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Every transaction from Monday, Jan 25 through Friday, Jan 29, 2010 will be counted toward a donation to the Salvation Army in support of the organization’s Haitian relief efforts. In addition to the proceeds from dining purchases, Squeeze In owners Gary and Misty Young and Shila and Chad Morris will personally match the dining dollars up to an additional $500 from each couple to double the contribution. “The Squeeze has fantastic loyal guests who love to help,” Squeeze owner Misty Young said. “This is an opportunity for current Squeeze guests – and maybe those who haven’t dined with us before – to be part of something bigger and to make a difference just by dining out.” According to the National Restaurant Association, on a typical day in America, more than 130 million individuals will be foodservice patrons. Additionally, 52 percent of adults said they are likely to make a restaurant choice based on how much a restaurant supports charitable activities and the local community. “Relief organizations say the biggest necessity is cash to purchase much needed life saving and sustaining supplies for the victims and this is one way we can reach people in need now,” Misty Young added. Dining patrons can also make additional matching contributions by adding a separate check made out to Salvation Army or an extra cash donation to their dining ticket. All contributions will be delivered directly to the Salvation Army in Reno.
