Have you seen our beautiful new building? It’s coming along so fast! The windows are in, the walls are done, the paint is on, the equipment has been ordered, the tables and chairs are on the way – see story below – and the place is just coming together perfectly. We can’t wait to serve you the “Best Omelettes on the Planet” in just a few short weeks. We are on target for an April 1st opening, and that’s no joke! We’ll keep you posted with all the news of our exciting opening and of course, there will be plenty of hook ups, specials and goodies being offered to help kickoff the new Squeeze! WE WANT YOUR OLD DINING SETS! We had a family come into the Northwest Reno Squeeze shortly after we opened three years ago, and they exclaimed “this is my grandmother’s old dining set!” It was a really cool set that we had picked up at the Salvation Army thrift store! We do our best to be different and homey, not look like every (or any) other restaurant. You can help us by trading us your old dining furniture for Squeeze Bucks, or letting us know when there’s a great deal on something at a garage sale or thrift store. We prefer wood, must be sturdy and need both big and small sets. Comfortable chairs are super important. ARTIST WANTED If you know someone who does the kind of work you see “tattooed” on the walls of the Northwest Reno Squeeze – for example, the Rosie mural in the Wayne’s World dining room; the big sun and moon combo in the main dining room; or the iron giant on the walk-in fridge – send them our way! We’ll be painting during early and mid-March and we’re seeking someone to work with us to help swagify the new Squeeze before we let people loose with the Sharpie markers! The new Squeeze location is coming along! The framing is done, the roof is on, the plumbing is being installed and the floors have been poured! We are so excited to bring the Squeeze to South Reno. We’ll be holding a trial-run “guinea pig” fundraiser party for “For Pet’s Sake” before we open, and we’ll invite special guests to join us, help us work out the kinks, and raise a few bucks for our furry friends. Squeeze 3 is taking shape, the foundation is done! As we get ready for opening the third Squeeze In location in South Reno, we’ve been promoting and training our staff family so we can continue to serve you the “Best Omelettes on the Planet” regardless of which location you’re in. The Squeeze is excited to announce that Heidi Davis, Amanda’s mom, So far, the foundation is underway, and the walls are beginning to come up, in preparation for the March 2011 grand opening. Chad, Shila, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, Misty and Gary at the Squeeze 3 Groundbreaking Ceremony! Here we go! Squeeze: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going We’ve been so blessed over the two decades we’ve been in love with the Squeeze and the nearly seven that our family has owned it. Our love affair with this place began the first time we ever set foot in the Truckee location. It was love at first sight! Gary and I found ourselves day dreaming for years about how cool it would be to own the place “someday” never really understanding how important our out-loud dreaming was to the Universe, which was standing by to help us fulfill our dream. Yeah, we’re hippies like that. The conversations for years went something like this: “I love you so much, babe, I really don’t like how we have to go our separate ways every day. If we could do anything together, what would it be?” and, always, always, the response from the other person was, “We’d own the Squeeze In in Truckee!” Well, a dozen years of dreaming it and talking about it, and now seven years of owning it, we love this little place more than we even knew we could. The first expansion to Reno was pretty exciting and a little difficult, it really stretched us big time. We’re still in debt reduction mode on that, but feel the effort was so worth it, as we now are directly involved in helping support more than 40 families in northern California and northern Nevada. How cool is that? It’s a big opportunity and a big responsibility and we take it seriously. We’re happy our EggHeads have lined up to help us serve and give and we’re ready to expand again! This time, the Squeeze In is opening a new location in south Reno. We broke ground on it the last week in September 2010 and we’re hoping the fantastic McKenzie Construction will be able to get us in and operational by March 1, 2011. We’re at South Meadows Parkway and South Virginia Street in the South Creek Village. The actual address is 25 Foothill. We’ll have more than enough seats, both indoor and outside with a fantastic view of Mount Rose. Other businesses locating in the village include the Beauty Zone and Whispering Vine Wine Company. We’re super happy and thankful and ready to get cracking on some eggs! By the way, we’re gonna need tons of dining sets. We like mismatch. We like big.
